Arvia Technology: Stakeholder research and engagement

Arvia

Arvia is a leading global wastewater treatment technologies company headquartered between Manchester and Liverpool. A business spun out from research undertaken at the School of Chemical Engineering and Analytical Science at the University of Manchester, it enables customers to remove toxic chemicals from industrial wastewater to below trace levels using patented techniques.

Our work with Arvia’s Chief Executive and Marketing Lead took place in two phases, helping them to articulate their business story – particularly around their innovation to safely remove ‘forever chemicals’ from industrial wastewater – and communicate it to target customers and key industry stakeholders.

We first conducted extensive stakeholder research, producing a detailed audit of the stakeholder landscape and attitudes towards Arvia’s area of expertise. This included a summary of findings and recommendations on next steps. We then helped the business to define a clear and compelling narrative in order to engage stakeholders, before tailoring communications for the CEO to send directly to those we had helped to identify and prioritise. This also comprised a parliamentary briefing for MPs engaged in matters concerning water contamination. Stakeholder meetings directly secured included UK MPs, campaign groups, Financial Times, BBC, and a former water company CEO.

The second phase of work involved preparing an Arvia response to the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST) research consultation on ‘Regulation and remediation of ‘forever’ chemicals’, and target research and preparation of highly customised letters addressed to polluting companies’ General Counsels.

“We engaged Duo to help us sharpen our story and communicate it more effectively to stakeholders and customers. They quickly got to grips with our market and produced research and communications that helped us open doors, secure important meetings and strengthen our sales and marketing materials. I’d recommend Duo to any business looking to build credibility and support ambitious growth.”
