RSPB: Increasing a CEO’s profile to extend reach

The RSPB – Europe’s largest nature conservation charity – was looking to raise the profile of its CEO and senior leaders to help it showcase a more propositional voice and take its messages to new audiences.

Our brief was to both deliver immediate impact and to help set up the NGO to build its propositional thought leadership work long term.

To create immediate impact we worked with Chief Executive Beccy Speight to secure new media opportunities across national, third-sector and food & farming media.

We also advised on how to grow social media presence and influence as a CEO, identified short-term and long-term speaker opportunities, and identified other long-term strategic communications opportunities to raise Beccy’s profile, in order to further the impact of the RSPB’s work. This strategy was designed to be extended to a handful of other senior leaders.

Central to this, we worked with the RSPB’s internal teams to upskill and provide the foundations for them to deliver impactful propositional communications revolving around Beccy and her leadership team. We provided an exit strategy whereby we upskilled the RSPB’s in-house staff so that they have been able to continue to deliver this work successfully.

“We were grappling with a perfect storm of strategic priorities to deliver and gaps in our team. Duo came on board with a can do attitude, clarity of thinking and brilliant people skills, immediately feeling like part of the team. Within weeks they had both set a clear strategy and started delivering opportunities. Once we were back to full capacity they had set a long term vision our team could pick up and run with. The perfect partner. This is an agency that thrives on collaboration, can adapt to a moving brief, and absolutely has its clients’ goals at heart.”
